Nonprofit Management Certification Program
More affordable and certainly closer than other programs, the Nonprofit Management Certification Program is offered at Patrick Henry Community College and is essential for new nonprofit directors as well as existing directors and staff. Some classes will be offered online. For a class schedule and fees.

Nonprofit Leadership Certification Program
For all nonprofit directors as well as board members and senior staff interested in moving into an Executive Director or President role.  Some classes will be offered online. For a class schedule and fees.

Grantsmanship Certification
There are classes offered at universities and colleges around the state, but you can have the same high quality training right here in Martinsville and HenryCounty for a fraction of the cost. The Grantsmanship Program covers grants development methodology from A to Z, tailored to each student's goals and expectations. It is not just grant writing, but grants development including identifying and implementing strategies for research, project designs, marketing, developing collaboration, continuation funding, etc.


Course Title: Grantsmanship-- PBS 136   Spring, Summer and Autumn Classes

Tuition: $244.44 plus books (approximately $45.00)


Class Objectives:

  • Helping students with organizing and time management so that each may complete at least one grant application by the end of class.
  • Providing time and guidance for researching and identifying funding sources that will support each student's mission/vision, or grant-fundable needs.
  • Providing individual facilitation, and group assistance with wording measurable objectives and outcomes, as well as other grant writing requirements.
  • Assisting students with refining the two major components of successful grantsmanship: relationships and grant writing.
  • Providing guest speakers from possible funding resources, as well as other experts.
  • Identifying ways of determining whether or not visions may become reality.
  • Having class meeting times as labs, where students use a computer and the Internet during class to research and complete a grant.
  • Structuring independent study so that class time may be devoted more to completing a grant and related requirements.
